PART - 1

This is an account of d emotional 'trauma'  I hav to undergo watchin the national channel availabl without paying a penny.

I do not write dis as one criticizing d channel /its content n neither am i suggesting measures to revamp the channel 4 a mature audience.
Its just a first-hand take on the amount of embarrasment causd to a middle-class,young,urban educated student lik me!!

Holidays 4 me do spell a doom wen it comes to watching tv.my house is one of those which hav free access to the doordarshan's national channels.since thes channels hav the largest terrestrial network( dats wat their ads show!), one requirs no seperat equipmnt/set-top box/cable connection to reciev them. A small 'juggad' can do wonders.most famous 'jugaads' iv cum across are cycle rim,aluminium bars or just a simple cable thrown around to perfection.

I think d govt has purposefully made powerful transponders which emit such strong signals that no tv is spared of its reach in  a way dat everyone gets  to view their 'weird' stuff!

ok..so Iv acquainted u about d ways to reciev dese channels.now comes the turn of d content shown. talkin of content, d Ads need special mention( ohh applause to!).more dan 50% of the so calld ads comprise of social msgs which r wee-bit 'unique' considering such types r not shown on othr privat channels !

most distasteful ad (at least 4 me) is d one in which it is advicd to construct toilets in houses and open spaces r ought not to be used wen it comes to answering nature's call..(as if i didnt knw!). the other 'interesting' part is d one expectin people to wash hands after d 'job'!! ( i hop u wud excuse me 4 going into 'graphic' details but its d only way i cud get u up close wid the real thing..!!)
